Terms of service

These terms apply when you use socialgen at socialgen.dev, a studio for making photo slideshows and posting them to your own TikTok account. socialgen is operated by David Noé Bänziger, an individual developer (“we”). By signing in you agree to these terms.

The service

socialgen lets you write slideshows, choose photos and a look, preview the finished slides and post them to the TikTok account you signed in with. It is in beta and free of charge. If that ever changes you will be told in advance, and nothing will be charged without your agreement.

Your account

You sign in with TikTok, so you need a TikTok account in good standing and must meet TikTok’s own age and eligibility requirements. Sign in only with an account you own or are authorised to manage. You can sign out, disconnect or delete your data at any time from Settings.

Posting to TikTok

• socialgen posts only when you press Post on the review screen, and only with the title, caption, visibility, comment and disclosure settings you chose there. It never posts automatically.
• socialgen adds no watermark, logo, link, hashtag or promotional text to your slides or your caption.
• If a post promotes yourself, your business or a third party, you are responsible for disclosing it with the commercial content settings on the review screen, as TikTok’s Branded Content Policy requires.
• By posting you also agree to TikTok’s Music Usage Confirmation and, for branded content, its Branded Content Policy.
• TikTok decides whether and when a post is published, and may limit how often an account can post. While socialgen is awaiting TikTok’s app review, TikTok may publish posts as visible only to you.

Your content

What you write is yours. You give us permission to store it, render it into images and send it to TikTok, only to provide the service to you. You are responsible for what you post, including that you have the right to publish it and that it follows TikTok’s Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.

The photo library contains images from Pexels and Unsplash, provided under their licences, which allow free use without attribution. Those licences do not cover depicting identifiable people or brands in a way that suggests they endorse you, or presenting the photos as your own photography.

Acceptable use

Do not use socialgen to post anything unlawful, infringing, deceptive, hateful or spam, to post to an account you are not authorised to use, to interfere with the service, or to access anyone else’s data. We may suspend access that breaks these terms or TikTok’s policies.

TikTok

socialgen is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by TikTok. Your use of TikTok remains governed by TikTok’s own terms. How socialgen handles your TikTok data is described in the privacy policy.

Availability and liability

socialgen is a free beta, provided as it is, and may change, be interrupted or be discontinued; if it is discontinued your data will be deleted. To the fullest extent the law allows, no warranty is given and no liability is accepted for any loss arising from its use. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for intent, gross negligence, death or personal injury.

Changes and governing law

We may update these terms; the new version is published here with a new date. These terms are governed by the law of the operator’s place of residence, without depriving you of protections the law of your own country gives you as a consumer.
